About the Event

Ullambana Festival: The Month of Filial Piety & Universal Deliverance

Join us at Jinyin Temple on Thursday, August 27, 2026, for the Ullambana Festival (also known as the Ghost Festival or Filial Piety Month).

Ullambana is a time of profound significance in the Buddhist tradition, rooted in the story of Maudgalyāyana and his devotion to his mother. It is a day dedicated to practicing gratitude for our parents and ancestors, and extending that compassion to all "wandering souls" who lack comfort and peace. By making offerings to the Triple Gem, we generate vast merit to alleviate the suffering of those in the lower realms and pray for the longevity of our living loved ones.
