About the Event
The September virtual gathering which will take place on the second Saturday marks the passage of two decades since September 11th, 2001. On this day, we hope to hold space for all of us to remember moments where we bear witness and experience the suffering in this world and to practice and pray for the future of humanity.
In a 2-hour session via Zoom from 2 - 4pm on September 11th, 2021, we will begin by sharing our own stories witnessing and experiencing unfortunate events that have taken place in the past. We look forward to hearing your personal stories, feelings, reflections and what you think that has helped you and would help the future of humanity. Please share with us prior to the event by sending us a message via the Contact Form on our website so we can arrange the sequence of the speakers. If you are unable to attend but would still like to share, we can read and share your words on your behalf.
This will be followed by an introduction to our Guru, the Vajra Master, Jinke Xuanlei, who came to the United States for the first time in 2009 to preside over the World Peace Prayer Ceremony held in Washington Square on World Peace Day. Prior to 2017 when Jinyin Temple was established, the Vajra Master has been invited to India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, USA, Canada, Australia, France, Palau, the UAE and many other places to spread the Dharma and perform world peace blessing ceremonies to benefit sentient beings.
With the light of the Guru shining on to all of us, we will meditate together to observe a moment of silence together with the sound of a singing bowl to dispel suffering and sorrows in our hearts. The Pure Land Rebirth Mantra will be chanted for this sitting practice.
The final moments of this virtual gathering will center on self-compassion and loving-kindness practices, and conclude with us all learning and chanting the Great Compassion Heart Mantra.

We need wisdom and to be kinder to each other – now more than ever. Community is our purpose, and it is our honor to hold space for the topics, conversations, and practices that matter most to our Dharma practitioners, friends, neighbors, and people in this world. Our sangha welcomes and values all who come here with sincere and heartfelt compassion. We look forward to being together with you online to share dharma, practice compassion, and express love.
